Any Latvian Speakers Who Can Translate A Book To Help Autistic People In Riga? (I Am Going To Ride A Boat On The Pilsētas Kanals!)

For Riga with love!  If you can translate this book into Latvian I would love to hear from you! In English it is limited to how many people it can help but in Latvian it would help so many more!

Riga’s Fourth Ability Guidebook! Free Resources For People With Autism!

Some of my Ability Guidebooks are for complex places with tickets, entrance halls, security and need to contain a lot of information. Some of the books are for much easier outings like visiting Torna iela in Riga, Latvia.  The Latvian National Museum of Art has lined the block with Soviet-era busts either of or by famous Latvians.

This is a perfect outing for someone who is just learning how to travel into the community. Sometimes these books can be layered. The first trip might just be a walk around the building you want to visit on a later date.

I loved this street in Riga. We did not know about it and stumbled upon it when we care around the corner. I hope you enjoy visiting!

An Ability Guidebook for Alberta iela–Riga’s Most Amazing Street Of Art Nouveau Architecture

I’m so thrilled to be getting so many books finished lately! I am subbing, or being a “Guest Teacher” for this first part of the year to allow me to get all these projects caught up.  I hope to do a few more books for Riga and then I’m moving on to Greece

Another Ability Guidebook for Latvia! I Am Going To The Riga Cathedral!

This is a new support for people with autism in Riga! I am hoping to find someone to translate into Latvian!  If you know anyone who would donate their time to getting these into the local languages, that would be terrific!!!

I Am Going To The FDR Memorial! A new support for people with autism in DC!

Another big thank you to the NEA Foundation Global Fellowship for bringing me to Washington, DC last week. I used my free time to run out and take pictures for a whole set of books about the memorials near the Tidal Basin.  If you have not seen the FDR Memorial I highly recommend it!

Love to London! A New Ability Guidebook! I Am Going To Hear Big Ben!

This Ability Guidebook takes you on a walk from the Westminster tube station, onto Westminster Bridge and around the Houses of Parliament.

There will be a separate book on how to visit Victoria Tower Gardens. Check out the map for toilet facilities. I had to draw my own map for this one! It took me a day but sometimes these books need a map to be successful. I’ve discovered it is faster to just draw my own rather than try to find someone who will let me use their maps

There are over sixty Ability Guidebooks now for 12 countries and in five languages! I always am looking for volunteer translators. Say hello if you would like to translate a book!

Hello London! You Have A New Support For People With Autism! I Am Going To The British Museum!!

Every museum in the world should have an Ability Guidebook as far as I’m concerned!  I’ll put that on my to-do list.  Until then, here’s one for the British Museum!

And in honor of their amazing staff, I want to share a little story. While Mike and I were visiting a young lady went into a series of grand mal seizures. While I timed the seizures the security guard laid down on the floor and used his body to protect the young lady from hitting any of the sharp edged cases. It was quick thinking on his part and the museum staff worked quickly to clear the area and get supports there for the young woman.  Kudos to the staff of the British Museum.
